Acting Up! Youth Theatre Academy Teacher

My love of Theatre started from a young age. My first memory was attending a Charlotte’s Web play as a primary school-aged child. I remember being totally mesmerized by the stage lights, actors, and production elements. As a teenager, attending the Theatre was the highlight of my year, and I treasured each show, soaking up the atmosphere. I went on to study Drama at QUT and combined this with an Education degree. I also completed a Stage and Screen Acting Course at the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory in Brisbane. While studying, I loved getting involved in short film projects and TV extra work. I also volunteered at Brisbane theatre companies in ushering. The bonus was seeing so many shows for free! No matter how many times I had seen the same production, I always found something new and interesting to note. I have worked as a Drama Teacher (Yrs 5-12) in schools for 14 years, and I have loved igniting students' passion for performance. I directed and produced Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat's school production, which was an experience I will never forget. Handing the show over on opening night and seeing it take on a life of its own is such a rewarding experience. I am looking forward to contributing to Acting Up and seeing each student flourish and gain confidence as capable, captivating performers.
